Miss G's Bs 3. . . . . . . .

. .

The Magnetic Fields, featuring Uncle LD

Since the early 90s, Miss G has loved Stephin Merritt's band The Magnetic Fields, and has been lucky enough to have seen them numerous times. After the magnum opus three-CD set "69 Love Songs" came out, she came to know one of the singers on that recording, LD Beghtol, through the Stephinsongs internet mailing list. When Blythe came along, Uncle LD was right there to share Liberty swatches and lend general moral support. So when it came time to return the favor, the Bs were happy to do so. When LD was writing a book for the 33 1/3 series on "69 Love Songs" Miss G and the Bs contributed a photo and musings on the songs.

Brigid Boudicca illustrated the song "Underwear." Sheena-chan was very excited to see her photo printed in the book!

The Gothic Archies are another of Stephin's bands, and a member of The Gothic Archies is none other than author Lemony Snicket. Thus, for every one of the Lemony Snicket audio books in "A Series of Unfortunate Events," The Gothic Archies contributed a song. For the release of the last book in the series, a CD collection of all the songs was issued. Zeema ran all the way home from school on the day the CD was released.

Obilot couldn't wait to read the last part of the adventures of the unfortunate Baudelaire children.

LD and Stephin talk about the Gothic Archies and play some of the songs in LD's Village Voice podcast of 12/22/06. The Blythes eagerly await more from Renaissance Man Uncle LD as well as from The Magnetic Fields!
